Since I don't believe in a so-called 'after life' I don't think paranormal are our dead. I think its just imprints of energy left by the living or our dimension mixing with other dimensions.
If it were our dead then our universe would run out of energy for the next lives to come into existence. There is an exact amount of energy in the universe. It can’t be created or destroyed. So things have to stop for other things to start. So if our dead stuck around then their energy doesn’t stop.

I like that a lot, Webs. It puts me in mind of the idea of referring to haunted locations as 'cells.' A cell holds a charge and to maintain that charge it must draw power from elsewhere. Sometimes that power comes directly from other local sources (batteries, equipment, people, etc.)
It's wildly thought that ghosts / spirits / entities draw on local sources of energy in order to manifest or communicate. These paranormal phenomena are part of that cell but not the cell itself. Pull the walls down of a haunted house and what do we think happens? We assume the energy dissipates. Those that have known me over the last couple years know that i keep returning to this very notion.
Take one wall down on a haunted house - will the phenomena stop? Take two down, what happens? Or if you remove the roof? Image if you had a 5' x 8' garden shed and it's haunted. By a garden gnome. Picture it has a physical manifestation inside the shed. If you move the whole shed is it fair to assume the 'ghost' moves with it - or does it stay in place, standing in the same spot it always has except without the confines of the shed? I think it's fair to believe the ghost would move with the shed.
BUT if you repeat that experiment by moving the floor, the roof and then one wall at a time does the 'haunting' stop? Is it released? If hauntings are fueled by their surroundings; once the shed is re-erected will the haunting return? Consider taking the shed down and then putting it back up in the exact same spot. Then consider taking that shed down and re-building it ten feet to the left.
If there's interest in discussing this theory let me know and I'll start a group / thread for it.
My point is: If ghosts didn't need a cell to function then surely there'd be more ghosts seen walking 10 or 20 feet in the air in a place that used to have a structure.
Perhaps ambient energies are continuing to fuel the energy signatures of the deceased. But those energies have to be contained within a cell. Without the confines of that cell the energies simply disperse.
If some 'ghosts' are intelligent and have purpose or awareness then it seems plausible they choose to draw energies in order to communicate or even exist.
Whether it's our dead or parallel universes the 'cell' theory may very well be applicable to both.
From what I've heard in the theoretical physics arena, there is math to support the existence of parallel universes. The question is that if they do in fact exist, can those of us that exist in them, travel across them. I use bubble wrap as an example.........each bubble on a sheet of bubble wrap represents a single universe. The flat areas in between keep the universes apart from each other. Each universe looks the same as the others, but if you look EXTREMELY close, there are differences in each one.
Now, factor in paranormal events to this bubble wrap theory. Let's use residual hauntings as an example. You're in an old building and you come across the ghost of the old lady who used to work there. She appears to be going about her normal work day for the second or three that you actually see her. Now, perhaps, in another universe, she is still very much alive and doing that very job, in that very building that you stand in in your own universe. How did you see her (or what you believe to be her ghost)? Did that moment in time travel from one bubble to the bubble you're in, and you were a witness to that moment? Now think about this......maybe as she went about her business in HER universe, she happened to see a shadow out of the corner of her eye. Was that shadow YOU watching her as the 2 alternate times met briefly?
I guess this is the biggest problem for paranormal researchers. For every one question that you try to answer, another million are born.
Think about the possibility that if there are an unknown number of parallel universes, there could also be an unknown number or US!.............you and me............several of us...........one in each universe.
I seem to have alot of dreams.........some are the typical nonsense dreams that make no sense.............but there are quite a few that are very vivid.............VERY vivid. I've been in places that I know from this existence, such as Quincy, Illinois. I've been there many times and know the town well. But in my dreams, I see a very different Quincy, Illinois.........I know it's Quincy because of some similar land markers, and names on water towers...........but the terrain is different........half of the town on the side of a hill, and much longer streets with much more development on them.
Another was of my home town of Aurora, IL..........very flat, and i know the area like the back of my hand. I could drive the roads while blindfolded. In the dream, I was driving down a well know street.........everything looked identical, except when I came out from under a bridge and looked left to see a huge mountainside.
Have you ever had the realization of a dream days after you had the dream?...............almost like, "hey, I remember that, but it was days or weeks ago..........why did I just remember that now?"
Whoooo.....I'd better stop here for now, before my brain overheats.................there's alot of thought process going on right now!
